Following graduation with a Fine Art Diploma majoring in sculpture, Karen spent over twenty five years working in the dynamic and creative environment of Feature Films and Television creating props, painting sets, model making and applying special effects make-up.
Her passion for clay and her love of tactile creativity inspired Karen to acquire her Bachelor of Technology Degree in Ceramic Design at the University of Johannesburg, advancing her continuing career as a ceramic artist.
In 2014 Karen relocated to Adelaide, Australia, where she continued her clay sculpting adventures at her rustic clay studio at an artist’s collective, The Barn in the picturesque Adelaide Hills village of Stirling.
Now relocated to the Central Coast, NSW region where inspiration abounds through the local wildlife and scenic landscape that is rural Australia on her doorstep.
Her ceramic work ranges from delicate bone china and porcelain vessels to large sculptural piece. Karen also works in mixed media and textiles.
I like to keep work fresh by changing the medium I work in on a regular basis. Techniques include ceramics, sculpture, mixed media and textile.
