Mosaics were my first artistic expressions, starting with minor art works but leading to public works such as the Northcott Building public mural collaborating with mosaicist Selena Seifert and others and later collaborating in various mosaic community works for Sydney Inner West. I have taught mosaics at various centres including Greenwich Public School and Kirribilli Neighbour Centre. For many years I marketed my works through the Kirribilli Art & Design Market as well as specific art shows such as Riverview or Winmalee Art Shows. Experimenting with glass fusions to include in my mosaics led me to develop skills and techniques in jewelry and glass firing including slumping. I now love creating in all these fields and the challenge now is finding time to continue experimenting and developing in these three fields. But that is a challenge I love. Many techniques I use are based in age old traditions and that is an aspect to the art work that I love.
Currently I create artistic & functional mosaics for indoors & gardens set. This lead me to developing glass jewelry using traditional materials like Venetian Smalti as well as modern materials including Dichroic glass. Working with glass & mosaics is addictive. From there I developed skills in creating glass items both ornamental & functional using kiln firing techniques as well as creating glass fusions in my mosaics.
