I began to pursue art about 25 years ago beginning with pencil drawing, pastels, oils and acrylics then with encouragement from my wife I attended an introduction to sculpture workshop through the WEA. Since that time I have been mostly self-taught, dabbling at the edges whilst still in full time work. Over the years I have successfully exhibited at a number of art and or sculpture exhibitions winning the odd prize but more importantly selling my work.I was a founding member of Australian Sculpture Hunter Region Incorporated before moving to the Central Coast in 2013.This move has allowed me to set up a dedicated ‘studio’ and now that I’ve retired I am ready to devote more time and creative energy to sculpture as well as getting back into painting & drawing.Having discovered a real love for wood most of my sculptural pieces are now created using this incredible natural medium.
My main interest is in sculpture but I still enjoy painting and drawing (pastels mostly). I tend to make abstract sculptrual pieces from wood, limestone and soapstone and sometimes driftwood (if I happen come across the right piece). I also make pallet art using old pallet timber as the backing board with lake / beach scenes and house names etc.
